What is VoIP (Voice Over internet Protocol)?

Voice over Internet Protocol also known as VoIP, the routing of voice packets of an Internet connection. VoIP does require an Internet connection to work in both homes and businesses. VoIP allows for free in country long distance calls and cheap international long distance.

What is Hosted PBX?

A Hosted PBX gives businesses the features of a traditional PBX system as a internet based service, plus some additional features that a hardware PBX couldn't do. Nuvio Phone is subscription based, like your cell phone and easily scalable, both up and down depending on the needs of the company. Rich in features like the Hardware PBX, the Hosted PBX allows businesses to have a PBX phone system at a low upfront cost. There isn't any PBX equipment to buy or maintain. This allows companies with a small IT department flexibility. Administration is done through a web interface, so making changes and updates can be done anywhere in the world where there is an Internet connection.

How Does Hosted PBX Work?

Nuvio is an Internet Based Phone Service, also know as "Hosted VoIP" or "Hosted PBX". Nuvio operates a fully operational redundant data center that hosts a "Virtual" PBX, and with the handsets (IP Phones) the customer receives with our service, they will connect to the hosted PBX through an Internet connection. Nuvio provides a "virtual PBX " for users for all intents and purposes. This hosted VoIP solution replaces an existing business phone system.

The PBX was designed, developed and maintained by Nuvio, so that customers continually have new features and new upgrades at no additional cost.

Nuvio does provide each customer with a web-based administration tool to configure your virtual PBX over the Internet.

IP Phones may connect through a router, or a direct Internet connection. Customers may also take their IP Phone anywhere there is a Internet Connection and simply plug it in. The same phone number will ring anywhere you happen to be.

What is SIP Trunking?

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) trunking is a service that allows organizations to use existing IP- PBX equipment for Voice over IP (VoIP) service. SIP trunking allows for calls to be made outside the existing network using the internet connection rather than phone lines. SIP trunking can greatly decrease a companies communication costs by eliminating local PSTN, Gateways and PRIs.
